This week we have a Young Adult dystopian title by the riveting writer, Jeff Hirsch paired with the classic, The Grapes of Wrath. What theme unites this pairing? Well, the R.E.M. lyric, “It’s the end of the world as we know it…” comes to mind. Let us know what YOU think connects the two.

Sorry!! The publishers and OverDrive are offering the titles and the delivery system for free as a commitment to build teen audio literacy–QUITE generous. Although, we would love to be Ubuntu/Linux friendly, we have to be content with what has been shared with us. We will certainly pass on to OverDrive your hope for compatibility.

Bravo to Sync, AudioFile and the publishers for this launch! It definitely bears repeating—no one should ignore these riches. What a formidable combination, the ability to download for FREE summer reading and an outstanding companion title.
The pairing of The Grapes of Wrath with The Eleventh Plague chillingly illustrate how drastically things can change. L.A. Theatre Works never misses a beat in this fantastic rendering of life during the Dust Bowl. While Dan Bittner single-handedly conveys the horror and hope as 15-year-old Stephen must go it alone in an unrecognizable U.S.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! It is so wonderful to not only have great FREE audiobooks, but to have titles that are currently popular AND classics that still need to be shared. Never doubt that this matters and is appreciated.

I was on an emotional roller costar with both these books. With “The Eleventh Plague”, I was shell shocked with what the past present and future could hold for us. In “The Grapes of Wrath” I was an emotional train wreck, every word was laced with an undercurrent of emotion. On an educational note it brought the tragedy of mankind’s past in a whole different light. When I study history when I return to school, things will not be the same for me. And when I look at my family, I see them differently.
Thanks, for these two reads!

@Kristen: You made my heart smile and eyes water. Thank you so much for the complement. I do enjoy reading and I love the FREE program you offer. It fits my of $0.00 budget perfectly!!
I should be thanking you for opening the door of former authors that inspire those of today. One day I hope I can weave such beautifully lyrical masterpieces as such, as you have introduced to me.
THANKS Kristen and THANKS Sync!!!
