About

What is SYNC?

SYNC is a program that gives away two complete audiobook downloads–a current Young Adult title paired thematically with a Classic or Required Summer Reading title–each week to listeners ages 13+ while SYNC is in session.

SYNC is in session this year from May 30 – August 21, 2013.

Titles are delivered through the OverDrive Media Console.  You can prepare for the program by downloading the software to your desktop and whichever device you anticipate listening on.

How Do I Sign-up?

Go to the right column and sign-up to get notifications of when the FREE audiobook downloads are available.  You can alerts by text message, email newsletter, or by simply following the SYNC blog.

Signing up for these alerts will not send you the titles.  The alerts will simply tell you when and where the title is available to download.

Download Details
• Downloads are in MP3 format, hosted by OverDrive, and are Mac and Windows compatible.

• Downloads will operate through OverDrive’s Media Console.

• Most listening devices are supported.

    What a great program!

Thanks!! It only works because of grand listeners like you telling other listeners!

This IS a great program. I’m wondering if you’ve consider expanding it to include titles for students at the elementary and middle school level. I know some titles are MS appropriate but it would be great if there were books specifically for that age level.

We would love to! IF SYNC continues to be successful, we MIGHT be able to add this in the future, but for now, the only plan is YA and upper MG.

How does one access the downloads…through this site? Where would I find the Overdrive Media Console?

    1. afadmin

Hello! Yes, access and the Media Console will be available through this site as of 6/14/12. Sign-up for reminder via text message or email in the right hand column.

Just found out about this and love it. Have put the link out on my blog and FB. What a fab idea. Thanks!

      Thank YOU for sharing it!

I’m spreading the word to friends, family, local libraries and via my book review blog, The Eclectic Review. What a fantastic idea!

Just wondering – you have a week to download it, but is there a timeframe as to when you can listen to it or is the file yours to keep? Forever…so to speak.

    Thank you!

    1. afadmin

No time frame at all! It’s yours to keep for ever. Obviously, it can’t be duplicated and distributed, but the files don’t expire.

Is there a way to get the list of pairings from the past two years? I’ve downloaded everything but have neglected to keep the ‘paired list.’ I would love to go back and re-listen in pairs!

    Thanks for this great resource!

    1. afadmin

We have emailed them to you! Thanks, Suzy!

Thank you for this exciting program!
I do have one question: is this for teens only, or can their parents enjoy these titles also?

    1. afadmin

It is for everyone! Listen away!

My local library sent me the information about this program/site. Loving it! One question. It said “subscribers to the SYNC text service will receive a free download of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, read by a full cast (L.A. Theater Works)” so I signed up for the text. Where do I download the Romeo and Juliet?

    1. afadmin

Message will come soon for the download!

I recently discovered this website and I must say this is a very impressive and wonderful service! Is my understanding correct that this site operates during the summer months only to provide 2 free titles per week (as described)? I missed the first offerings this summer but I received the two for this week – I love them, especially “Tales from the Arabian Nights” :D It was read very well.

Thank you so much! I’ll be back for more!

    1. afadmin

Thank you for your grand comments! Yes, for now, the program only runs in the summer months. Make sure you are on our email list (top right of the page) so that we can remind you when each new title releases!

Good question! Maybe you should you should ask your mum first about putting a picture up as that might put too much of you online??
