Audiobook not in your OverDrive bookshelf? See FAQ #3.

Having trouble?

Make sure your OverDrive app or desktop software is up to date. PLEASE NOTE: You must use the free OverDrive app. The SYNC program does not work with the Libby app. For more help installing and using OverDrive's app/desktop software, visit OverDrive Help.

For computers and tablets (Windows 8/10)

  1. Ensure you have downloaded the OverDrive app for Windows 8/10. Open your device's "Settings" and find OverDrive in your Application settings and/or defaults, choose "Open by default". See your devices own help manual for additional help setting default file formats.
  2. Go to www.audiobooksync.com and select the available title you wish to download.
  3. Type in your name and email and click the green button that says "Get your FREE download now!"
  4.  If prompted, select "Run" or "Open" (not "Save") to open the audiobook in the OverDrive app.  Note: The file you're downloading in this step is an .odm file. This is not the audiobook, but it's a file that lets you get the audiobook. Don't save this file, because it will expire and you won't be able to use it to get the audiobook later. If the audiobook file doesn't download automatically follow the prompt to CLICK HERE.
  5. Verify your title has been downloaded (after the download period has ended there is no opportunity to download again).
  6. If you'd like to move the audiobook's MP3 files to another device, you can usually find the files by going to C:\Users\Yourcomputername\Music\MyMedia\OverDrive or by searching on your computer by title name.

For Windows 7 or Mac computers

  1. Ensure you have downloaded OverDrive's free desktop software.
If the audiobook file doesn't download automatically, follow the prompt to CLICK HERE.
  5. Verify your title has been downloaded (after the download period has ended there is no opportunity to download again).
  6. If you'd like to move the audiobook's MP3 files to another device, you can usually find the files by going to C:\Users\yourcomputername\Documents\My Media\MP3 Audiobooks\title or by searching on your computer by title name.

For smartphones, tablets and Chromebooks

  1. Ensure you have downloaded the OverDrive app. Open your device's "Settings" and find OverDrive in your Application settings and/or defaults, choose "Open by default". See your devices own help manual for additional help setting default file formats.
  2. On your smartphone or tablet, go to www.audiobooksync.com and select the available title you wish to download.
  3. Type in your name and email and click the green button that says Get your FREE download now!
  4. The title will appear on your "Bookshelf" in the OverDrive app.
  5. Verify your title has been downloaded (after the download period has ended there is no opportunity to download again).
  6. If you are on a Chromebook and the title does not download please see item 15 of our FAQ section

***Please note: We recommend you also download the audiobook to your computer. Mobile devices are vulnerable and run out of storage quickly. Since the audiobook files are ONLY on your device/computer (NOT SAVED IN CLOUD STORAGE) then if the device is lost, replaced,  you update the app, etc., you will lose the audiobooks too.
