This week on SYNC, we have a pair of audiobooks featuring characters who are exploring the role of faith in their lives.
ECHOES OF AN ANGEL is the true story of Benjamin Underwood--it sounds like fiction, but it’s not. As a young boy, he lost his vision, but that did not slow him down. His mother had faith, and her son thrived. He developed the ability to “see” via human echolocation; with clicks of his tongue, he is able to play sports and video games and do more than anyone could imagine. Written by Aquaneta Gordon and Chris Macias, we are lucky to have Christian Audio's stellar performance of this inspiring story narrated by audiobook superstar Robin Miles.
Kathe Koja's award-winning BUDDHA BOY is performed by Spencer Murphy with the Full Cast Audio family. Here, the main character, much like his real-world counterpart in our pair title, must draw strength from inside himself in order to survive high school--his faith is a comfort as well as a reason for people to ridicule him. This full-cast recording teases out all the nuances, joys, pains, and challenges of high school.
Teens are often interested in the role of faith in human life. Both our audiobooks this week offer ways for them to share that interest with authentic characters they will admire.
