The Civil War experiences of a New England family make for another easily matched pair from SYNC this week.
We visit the March family--four daughters at home with their mother, as well as the newly imagined parallel story of the March patriarch who is off fighting for the Union. While Louisa May Alcott created a compelling world of women showing bravery and resourcefulness on the home front, Geraldine Brooks provides the missing story with her creation of their absent father's world of the soldier.
Beautifully voiced by Richard Easton, Penguin Audio's MARCH takes the classic LITTLE WOMEN, satisfyingly narrated here by Kate Reading in the Listening Library edition, to give us a tale that will intrigue both fans of LITTLE WOMEN and new enthusiasts of one of America's best known authors.
What better pair could we imagine? We celebrate the entire March family, through a long-held classic and a new Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
