Mythology, fantasy, and #OwnVoices authors and casting—it’s a richly rewarding week on SYNC! Thanks to Recorded Books and HarperAudio for sharing titles that make such a dynamic pair.

We've often received requests to include narration work by Nancy Wu in our season of listening. This year, settle in with her peformance of author F.C. Yee’s THE EPIC CRUSH OF GENIE LO, in which college application jitters, super powers, a fascinating transfer student, and a hell-spawn invasion plunge Genie into fantastic—and funny—twists in her life. The mythical Chinese Monkey King arrives and neither Genie nor listeners can anticipate what will happen next.

Julie Kagawa’s fantasy, SHADOW OF THE FOX, comes to listening readers through a full cast that includes Joy Osmanski, Brian Nishii, and Emily Woo Zeller. The opening work of a new trilogy weaves together strands of Japanese folklore, with author and performers creating a tale of shapeshifting, high adventure pitting skills of illusion against the powers of a samurai, and mythological creatures.

It’s good to remember that once downloaded, SYNC audiobooks are yours to keep. Both of these adventures will call you back for repeated listening.
