L. A. Theatre Works returns with two fully staged plays this season. From the Relativity Series of science-themed plays supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, SYNC will offer FAKE, a play about the Piltdown Man Hoax, written by Eric Simonson and performed by a full cast that earned AudioFile Magazine’s Earphones Award. L. A. Theatre Works’ second contribution is from lauded playwright Philip Kan Gotanda: SISTERS MATSUMOTO, also performed by a full cast and another Earphones Award winner is an #OwnVoices drama. Thank you, L. A. Theatre Works!
From Blink, SYNC participants will have access to a new teen novel by Alison Gervais and performed by Chloe Dolandis, THE SILENCE BETWEEN US. An interesting aspect of this title is that dialog spoken in oral English, American Sign Language, and finger spelling are conveyed in a manner that makes clear the differences among these languages. From Thomas Nelson, we are delighted to be able to share THE BRONTE PLOT, by Katherine Reay and narrated by Laura Kirman. Thank you, Blink and thank you, Thomas Nelson!
If you’re attending the American Library Association’s Midwinter Meeting this weekend in Philadelphia, you can pick up the complete list of 2020 SYNC titles at Booth 1161. If you won’t be there, no need to worry: we’ll be posting the whole list and the pairs and dates of release very soon right on this website.
