Welcome Back, Scholastic and HarperAudio!

Two audiobook publishers who are longtime SYNC supporters have been generous again this year, providing four highly reviewed young adult novels between them. Thank you Scholastic Audiobooks and HarperAudio! It’s always a delight sharing your audiobooks with teen listeners.

From HarperAudio, SYNC 2019 participants will enjoy the high fantasy opening volume of Julie Kagawa’s Japanese folklore-inspired series. SHADOW OF THE FOX is an #OwnVoices audiobook with Brian Nishii and Emily Woo Zeller joining Joy Osmanski in the full cast narration.  You can build anticipation for this one by finding out a bit about the legendary fox, Kitsune.

Also from HarperAudio Katie Henry’s debut will arrive for listeners through the performance skill of Michael Crouch. HERETICS ANONYMOUS offers a compelling story that weaves together school life, family life, and the delightful social circle of a group of self assured teenagers.

From Scholastic Audiobooks, Jennifer Nielsen’s A NIGHT DIVIDED, narrated by Kate Simses, provides a historical fiction treatment of Cold War Berlin.  To say that the emotions expressed in this audiobook are relevant to contemporary events involving government efforts to control human border crossing through wall building is an understatement.

Scholastic Audiobooks has also provided us with the magical realism of Maggie Stiefvater’s ALL THE CROOKED SAINTS, narrated by Thom Rivera. Head back to 1962 and a Mexico that offers a place for seeking miracles.

Magic, mystery, a variety of expressions of faith, and obstacles from walls to fathers to ill health make for a rich smorgasbord of novel gambits.
