Here we go SYNC 2015!

We’re so pleased to expand the number of weeks of SYNC this summer – starting earlier in May gives school teachers and school librarians more opportunities to share with students prior to summer break.

Week 1 is an intriguing pair that will haunt your ears. The classic REBECCA, by Daphne Du Maurier, is beautifully narrated by British actress Anna Massey. Our young adult title, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, the first in the series from writing duo Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, was a recent movie with Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, and Emmy Rossum.

How did we decide to make this pairing? When AudioFile editors heard about Hachette’s recording of REBECCA, we knew it would be perfect for SYNC.

When we talked to Hachette about their possible young adult titles they mentioned BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. Learning about the mysterious southern plantation in the Garcia/Stohl story, we naturally thought of Manderley, Maxim de Winter’s hauntingly romantic mansion from REBECCA. The pair seemed perfect in tone and atmosphere. And bingo, a magical pair was born!

Opportunities to listen don’t stop with the SYNC titles: A short story in the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES series "The Mortal Heart" was released in March. Plus, the writers' latest "Dangerous Creatures" novel, Dangerous Deception, arrives May 19.

Happy listening! You've got until next Wednesday night, May 13, to download and keep these two audiobooks.
