Listening all summer has given you the opportunity to:
- Become a more fluent and relaxed sight reader because you've intuitively learned more about pronunciations and punctuation as providing meaning
- Extend your skills (and patience) as a listener, and that will work for you in both the classroom and with your friends
- Meet a variety of fictional and historical people and situations outside your everyday world, and enlarged your worldview in the process
We wish every one of you--student, teacher, librarian, parent or other caring adult--a healthy and engaging schoolyear. We know it won't be all happy and it often will be frustrating and even worse. If you have a bad day, chill out with an audiobook before you react. Another listening benefit is that reading (including reading by ear) provides calm in the midst of emotional chaos.
